Sam Cawte2026-07-20 We had a ducted heatpump system installed in our house recently. The initial meeting with Shane was very thorough, and he really took the time to consider what we were hoping to achieve with the system, and provided advice about the best options for conserving energy and saving us money. We had quotes from several other companies, but this one was competitive, and they were patient with all our questions and gave great explanations and rationale. Installation all went well and it’s been life changing for us. We’re no longer freezing in the mornings, our house is warm and free from condensation! Being able to control the system remotely via WIFI is such a bonus too! Jordyn Fisiiahi2026-06-28 Future energy just installed a Panasonic ducted heating system into our home. It was a quick and easy process and we are extremely pleased with the result. All of the installation crew were extremely friendly, professional and left no mess! Initially we weren’t sure which type of system to go with but when Shane came out to give us a free quote he was so lovely and extremely knowledgeable and explained everything so well! He is clearly passionate about his role and teallly took the time to ask us what our needs were- as a family with young children with asthma and allergies he directed us to the product that would be best fit for this. We had quotes from multiple companies but because of our interaction with Shane, we felt confident Future energy were the right choice. Thankyou so much, I highly recommend both Future energy and the Panasonic ducted system! Tony Sidon2026-06-19 We were thinking about getting Solar for awhile now and contacted Future Energy who were awesome to deal with and gave us excellent professional advice on the best system for us. Which we went with and are very pleased with the results, we can monitor what the Solar is providing to the house, storing in the battery and going back to the grid. For once Im looking forward to the next power account Thanks very much Future Energy and I cant recommend them high enough Ken Perfect2026-06-19 I had the team at future energy install solar panels on my house in christchurch in late March 2026. Great results so far. From start to finish the team were great to communicate with. The install was smooth despite some changes, all done in 1 day! The quote was made via video call and the deal was alot better than other quotes. The sales pitch wasn't as pushy as other providers also. Overall very happy with my experience. Angela Washer2026-06-12 Great service, informative advice and value for money. Very happy with the installation and we can’t wait to use our system. Mimi Chiu2026-05-24 Easy to arrange. Andy came to our site to inspect the logistics. We waited for a bit after paying the deposit, but once they contacted us, it was installed really quickly. Great service, easy communication. Sandra Dean2026-05-24 Future Energy were amazing with the installation of my father-in-laws Solar Panelling. He is so happy with the way this was handled from the initial consultation, to contact throughout the installation and the service of all parties involved was amazing. Thankyou to all the team involved. Rex Hays
The earlier the better, ideally before consent, but any time before framing is fine. Talking to us pre-consent means we can influence roof orientation; hot water cylinder location, switchboard sizing and conduit runs at zero extra cost. If your home is already framed, we can still install a full solar, battery, ducted heat pump and EV charging package, we'll just work to your existing layout.
A no-obligation site visit or virtual review of your plans, an assessment of your expected energy use, recommendations on solar, battery, heat pumps, ventilation, hot water and EV charging, and a same-day written quote. There's no charge, no pressure, and no commitment. We'll also flag anything we'd want your builder or electrician to do differently to make the install cleaner and cheaper.
A typical Sustainable Living package (solar, ducted heat pump, ventilation and hot water heat pump) starts from around $39,999. A Full Resilience package (adding home battery, whole-home ducted HVAC, EV charger and zone control) starts from around $49,999. A Zero Bill package, sized so you pay nothing for power for at least five years, is priced on request and depends on your expected usage and the degree home electrification.
Installing solar during a new build isn't always cheaper. As trades often need to return to site across several build phases, which adds call out costs. Where you do save is by bundling: choosing Future Energy for your solar, heat pumps, hot water and EV charging together means one team, one coordinated design, and one set of site visits. Using five separate suppliers at a typical $200 call-out each, with solar and ducted systems each needing a return visit, conservatively adds up to around $1,400 in site visit fees alone, before any of the work gets done. With a bundled install, that coordination cost effectively disappears.
The bigger advantage, though, is the result. A cleanly integrated system with no surface conduit, cables routed through the wall cavities, switchboard and hot water cylinder positioned correctly for solar from day one, and ducted heating designed into the ceiling space rather than bolted on afterwards.
If your budget is tight, our Future Ready package prewires your home for solar and EV charging during the build so you can add them later without the mess and expense of a retrofit.
A Zero Bills home is a new build fitted with solar panels, a home battery and a heat pump, paired with the Octopus Energy Zero Bills tariff that guarantees no power bills for at least five years. Future Energy is one of the approved installers for Octopus Zero Bills in New Zealand. We'll size your solar and battery system to match your home and lifestyle so you qualify for the guarantee. The home must use electric heating (no gas) and maintain an internet connection so Octopus can manage the battery.
On a new build, the cheapest way to fund solar, a battery or a hot water heat pump is usually to include it in your build contract, so it's financed within your construction loan and spread across your mortgage. The banks' green home loan top-ups (ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac, Kiwibank) generally can't be used during the build itself, since they're top-ups on an existing home loan against a completed property, but you may be able to use one to expand your system once the build is finished. Structures vary by lender, so check with your bank or mortgage adviser early. We'll package your quote in the format your builder and bank need
We design and install solar, batteries, EV chargers and hot water heat pumps in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Christchurch, Dunedin and the Southern Lakes. In Auckland and Dunedin, we also install ducted, single-room and multi-room heat pumps and balanced pressure ventilation systems. If you're outside these regions, get in touch; we may still be able to help through our installer network.
Solar panels themselves don't usually require separate consent if they're installed during the main build under your existing building consent. Battery storage and any electrical changes must comply with NZ wiring regulations (AS/NZS 3000) and the inverter must comply with AS/NZS 4777. We handle all the compliance paperwork, network connection applications with your local lines company, and warranty registration as part of every install.
Ducted heat pumps are installed in the ceiling cavity and deliver warm or cool air through discreet vents in each room, giving even, whole-home temperature control with almost no visual impact. High-wall (split) heat pumps are wall-mounted units that heat one room or open-plan area at a time. New builds are perfect for ducted systems because the cavity space and electrical runs can be planned in from the start. Retrofitting ducting into a finished home is often harder. Most of our Sustainable Living and Full Resilience packages include ducted systems for this reason.
Often, yes, but it comes down to how you use power. Hot water, appliances and EV charging can be timed to run in daylight while your panels generate, and every unit you use yourself saves the retail rate (around 30 to 40c/kWh) instead of earning the lower buy-back rate (8 to 17c/kWh). Keeping your home warm is the exception, since it's needed most on cold mornings and evenings when there's little sun. Because a low-energy home has a smaller bill to start with, the key is sizing the system to match rather than overbuilding. We'll model it against your actual usage so the payback figure is real for your home
