When Alan and his wife moved from Hamilton to Kerikeri, they wanted a home that was efficient, sustainable, and less reliant on the grid. Future Energy helped them transform their home with 14 high efficiency Suntech 440W solar panels, a SolaX IES battery, and a Haier 195L hot water heat pump.
As part of the upgrade, we removed their old indoor hot water heat pump and installed the new Haier unit outside, in a location fully suited to outdoor conditions. This improved efficiency and freed up indoor space while ensuring the system could handle the elements year round.
Since the installation, Alan has seen dramatic reductions in energy costs, with his highest power bill in the last three months being just $25. Beyond cost savings, the home’s energy resilience has been impressive. When a car hit a power pole nearby, the battery kept their home running for 8 – 9 hours without interruption. On another occasion, scheduled works caused a power outage, but the family didn’t even notice thanks to the stored energy in their system.
Alan and his wife now enjoy a home that is comfortable, self sufficient, and prepared for the unexpected – a real example of how solar, battery storage, and smart appliances can deliver both savings and peace of mind.
