Delivering solar in a busy CBD environment requires more than technical expertise – it requires flexibility, and collaboration.
Future Energy partnered closely with both the Harbour Grounds landlord and building tenants to deliver a large scale commercial solar installation across three Auckland CBD office sites. With the buildings operating during standard business hours, our team carefully planned the project around tenant needs, completing much of the work outside peak times – from early mornings and late nights to weekend work – to ensure day to day operations continued uninterrupted.
Over a two month installation programme, 650 solar panels were installed across the three buildings, delivering a combined generation capacity of 304.9 kW. Each site was staged and coordinated to suit the unique layout and usage of the buildings, while maintaining safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption throughout the process.
The solar systems are now live and form a key part of Harbour Grounds’ long term sustainable workplace strategy. By generating a significant portion of their energy on site, the buildings can reduce reliance on the grid, and achieve meaningful reductions in carbon emissions.
This project showcases how commercial solar can be successfully delivered in high density urban environments – through careful planning, strong partnerships, and a commitment to working around the people who use the space every day.
